  • Patient Care:

    • Assist with patient intake, including obtaining and recording vital signs, medical history, and current health concerns.
    • Prepare patients for examination by physicians or other healthcare providers. Assist with physical exams and minor procedures as needed.
    • Administer medications, perform basic laboratory tests, and provide patient education on health and wellness topics.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Schedule patient appointments, manage patient flow, and coordinate referrals to specialists or other services.
    • Maintain and update patient records accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
    • Process insurance claims, manage billing, and handle patient inquiries regarding their accounts or medical services.
  • Clinical Support:

    • Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and equipment. Ensure that examination rooms are clean and properly stocked.
    • Perform routine laboratory tests, such as blood draws or urinalysis, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
    • Assist with minor surgical procedures and provide post-procedure care and instructions to patients.
  • Communication and Coordination:

    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers. Address patient concerns and provide support during visits.
    • Coordinate with other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care and efficient operation of the practice or facility.
  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Follow infection control procedures and maintain a safe and sanitary environment in accordance with healthcare regulations.
    • Stay current with medical procedures, techniques, and best practices through ongoing education and training.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a medical assistant training program or certification (e.g., CMA, RMA) is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a medical assistant role or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Proficiency in medical terminology, clinical procedures, and EHR systems. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare practices, patient confidentiality, and infection control procedures. Familiarity with medical billing and coding is a plus.
  • Attributes: Compassionate and patient-focused approach. Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle a variety of tasks. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
